Frequently Asked Questions

What is a ZED token?

The ZED Token is a standard ERC-20 token deployed on Polygon and Ethereum, allowing compatibility with all EVM based chains.

ZED tokens are the first milestone in creating a booming play and earn economy centred around horse racing on a public network. ZED tokens will be used to conduct future ZED RUN marketplace transactions such as breeding or racehorse sales, offered as rewards for prize winnings as well as supporting content creators.

Why is there a ZED token?

The purpose of the ZED token is to enable additional utility within the ZED RUN ecosystem. Over time, the ZED token will become the primary way to interact i.e. race, breed, and lend. The ZED token will be utilised in a way that continually engages existing stable owners, while simultaneously attracting new stable owners to join the platform. To keep it simple, the more you participate in the ZED RUN ecosystem, the more rewards you may earn.

What rewards exist in ZED RUN?

The ZED token is supported by a Play-and-Earn ("P&E") treasury that aspires to reward each engaged participant in ZED RUN.

What does it do? What utility does it hold?

To get the most out of ZED RUN, you need the ZED token. Not only does the ZED token allow you to breed and enter tournaments, it is planned to also allow users to create racing events and create your own NFT skin (when launched).

Isn’t my ZED RUN racehorse an NFT and therefore a token? What is the difference?

A ZED RUN racehorse is an ERC 721 non-fungible token (NFT), whereas a ZED token is an ERC 20 fungible token. What this means is every single ZED Token (ERC 20) has the same value. One token is replaceable with another and are mutually interchangeable. Whereas each ZED RUN ERC 721 NFT represents a different unique value relative to other ZED RUN NFT racehorses. The ZED token will be the only token you can use to race, breed, and lend in the ecosystem.

Is the ZED token a cryptocurrency digital asset?

Yes.

The ZED token is a form of cryptocurrency and is a utility token. The ZED token is an ERC 20 token which means you can use it on the ZED RUN platform and you can also send and receive it from any other Ethereum compatible wallet (such as MetaMask). Because it is an ERC 20 token, you can store it in your wallet, transfer it, and potentially use it independently of the ZED RUN platform.

What utility does the ZED token offer?

Utility for the ZED token will be delivered in phases. With the ZED token you will be able to:

  • enter into races and tournaments and earn token rewards by performing well in those races;

  • earn token rewards by retiring your racehorse;

  • breed your studs;

  • create your racing events with friends; and

  • mint and build your own NFT skins that can be applied on any ZED RUN racehorse.

We will utilise the token to facilitate improved game mechanics in ZED RUN. The ZED token is not an ‘after-thought’ but rather a tool that allows the creation of more utility for stable owners. As ZED RUN continues to evolve, we will continue to add more utility along the way.

Who is it for? Can anyone get them?

Absolutely.

Anyone can get their hands on the ZED token.

The ZED token will be first available to claim by all existing eligible stable owners who have shown support for, and participated in, the ZED RUN ecosystem since the launch of the platform. These existing stable owners will be the first participants to be able to claim the ZED token.

For new users, there are a number of ways to acquire the ZED token, such as creating a stable, acquiring a racehorse and performing well in races.

In addition, it is possible that the ZED token may be resold and available on secondary markets, such as centralised and decentralised exchanges.

How do I earn ZED tokens?

The most common way to obtain ZED tokens is by owning a ZED RUN racehorse and winning. The majority of racing events on ZED RUN are free, but will all include token rewards for you to get your hands on.

You can obtain ZED tokens by racing, breeding and retiring your racehorses that you feel have run their course.

Where do I get ZED tokens and what exchanges will it be on?

There may be both centralised and decentralised exchanges that offer trading on the secondary market in the ZED token.

How many ZED Tokens will there be?

1,000,000,000 (one billion) in total.

How will I see where my tokens are?

You can view your ZED tokens via your ZED RUN wallet located in the top right corner on zed.run. Given that the ZED token is an ERC 20 token, you can also view it in MetaMask by following these steps:

  1. Open MetaMask (what is MetaMask?)

  2. Make sure you are on the Polygon/Matic network (what is this?)

  3. Under the ‘asset’ tab click on ‘import tokens’

  4. Enter in the following details:

  • Token Address: 0x….x03i4-023i4-320i

  • Token Symbol: ZRT

  • Token Decimals: 18

You can also view your ZED tokens by visiting polygonscan.com and pasting your wallet address into the search bar!

Will the ZED token be airdropped?

Yes.

There will be one claiming process for the ZED token. The claiming process is available to those existing stable owners who have participated in the ZED RUN community up until the cut-off date being xx March 2022.

Existing stable owners will be able to claim their tokens via the ZED token website (the "token issuer"). The ZED tokens will become claimable after the Token Generation Event ("TGE") and will be open for ninety (90) days).

Do I have to pay gas fees to claim my ZED token(s)?

No.

Gas fees will be borne by the token issuer for those eligible users that are claiming the ZED token.

Where are my ZED tokens stored?

ZED tokens are stored within your MetaMask wallet. These wallets are non-custodial which means, only YOU have access to them.

If you cannot access your wallet due forgetting your password or seed phrase, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do.

How do I use my ZED tokens?

If you have ZED Tokens sitting in your wallet, you can use those tokens to race, breed and lend. You can view your tokens at any time by clicking on the wallet icon in the top right corner of zed.run. Learn more about the ZED Token utility here.

Who will receive the ZED token?

Early supporters of the ZED RUN ecosystem have taken on personal risk, including but not limited to: time capital, financial capital, social capital and even loyalty – to support the product as it grew from a concept, experienced growing pains, and continues to build towards the long-term vision.

As such, ZED in-game tokens will be distributed across 250,000+ active stable owners; relative to their historic activity in-game.

By allocating a portion of ZED Tokens strictly to existing stable owners, they will be the first parties who participate. It is a small gesture of appreciation, a gift, to the various forms of support provided thus far in our journey.

What does TGE mean?

Token Generation Event (TGE) is the day the ZED token will launch. We will disclose this day closer to the launch date.

Do I need to have my ZED Pass and or ZED RUN Skins in the same wallet for the airdrop?

The eligibility criteria for participating in the ZED Token airdrop is detailed here for both Skins and ZED Pass holders.

If I own a Genesis racehorse, will I be allocated more ZED tokens?

Yes.

Depending on the length of ownership, a Genesis racehorse holds more weight than a non-Genesis racehorse.

What does each bloodline get for a certain amount?

The token issuer has conducted the airdrop at the ‘stable owner’ level rather than an individual racehorse level. The reason for this is to more fairly distribute the ZED token to stable owners who not only have purchased racehorses but have also participated in the breeding and racing ecosystem. Please refer here for a detailed overview of how the ZED token is being airdropped.

Are tokens replacing wETH on the ZED RUN platform?

Ultimately, the ZED token will be replacing wETH across the entire platform, boosting utility to each ZED token holder.

Will I need tokens to be able to play ZED RUN?

To maximise the ZED RUN platform, you will need the ZED token to enjoy all modes of gameplay.

What will the token reward structure be for racehorse retirement?

You will get it according to you racehorse’s DNA (bloodline, breed type, genotype) and also your racing record. The more valued your racehorse is in the ecosystem, the more rewards there will be on offer.

Will I get to keep my racehorse name?

All racehorse names in ZED RUN are unique and one-of-a-kind. Stable owners have painstakingly spent time in creating the names of their offspring, as such it is only fair that these racehorse names remain the property of the stable owner.

When you retire your racehorse, the name of your racehorse will be immortalised on the blockchain. What this means is that you can keep the name plate of retired racehorse name as an NFT, apply it to any one of your newly bred offspring(s), or sell it on the open secondary market!

Will I get anything else for retiring my racehorse?

Yes.

For retiring your racehorse, stable owners will also receive a ‘breeding catalyst’. Breeding catalysts are NFTs that can be used when breeding new offspring, boosting its base abilities.

Every breeding cycle, there will be a limited number of breeding catalysts available that span across five (5) different rarity tiers. The more rare your breeding catalyst is, the more impactful it will be during the breeding process. Breeding catalysts can also be merged together, to create more powerful catalysts.

Do I need to use tokens to breed?

Yes.

When the ZED token integration is complete, breeding prices will continue to be set by the stud owners in ZED tokens.

Will ZED tokens be added as prize pools for tournaments?

Yes.

Additional ZED tokens will be attributed to individual races, tournaments and one-off contests.

Will we be allocating the tokens based on volume of racing?

Yes.

Will tokens be tradable on exchanges?

The ZED token may appear on 3rd party centralised and decentralised exchanges.

Will supply be capped?

Yes.

The supply of ZED tokens is capped at one billion (1,000,000,000).

Why wasn't my stable considered in the airdrop allocation?

A thoughtful approach was taken to reward all existing ZED RUN stable owners with the ZED token. Factors such as length of racehorse ownership, the amount of times you raced and the amount of times you bred were taken into consideration. Please refer here for more information.

What if I lost access to a prior wallet, can I still get my allocated ZED Tokens on a new wallet?

No.

ZED tokens allocated to one account cannot be redistributed to another account as part of the initial airdrop.

How will it work for those using Magic email wallets?
