The Current State of Racing

In ZED RUN today, the vast majority of racing rewards are distributed through the wETH Rewards Treasury. Although this has been successful in the past, as the community grows, this is not sustainable nor is it efficient for all types of players. The graph below illustrates how the monthly ecosystem rewards have scaled over time.

The team is preparing to make that curve go vertical in order to distribute as many ZED tokens as possible to active community participants over the next 4 years.

Racing Rewards and Live Ops

The premise of rewards and racing in ZED RUN remains primarily unchanged. We currently use wETH as the primary fee and the plan is to shift paid racing over to the ZED token in the coming months.

While continuing to rapidly scale the amount of available rewards, the team seeks to ensure more types of racehorses at different levels have a chance to win in their area of specialisation through conditional events.

A dedicated internal team has been created whose core focus is to ensure that racing rewards distribution is fair and supports ecosystem growth. Over the coming weeks, a variety of events with unique qualification conditions will accompany more rewards opportunities, as community creator tools and Play and Earn capabilities are boosted.

Community Creation

The team at ZED RUN is humbled by the passion, interest, and impacts from the community hosting their own events.

In addition to the upcoming introduction of Party Mode -- a casual way for stable owners to create off-chain races and play with their friends -- ZED RUN plans to explore self-created and hosted on-chain races.

ZED tokens would be required to create or participate with an on-chain custom race, covering gas fees and supporting the ecosystem.

Race hosts would be able to customise the racing event parameters, and possibly charge an entry fee / rake depending on their region. The team envisions this scaling to custom tournaments, or other events, as seen popularised within the community to date. Layering in a rewards structure here will help Community Creators build their own unique brand and reputation.
